Theatremonkey book In Stock for Stockings.

December 11, 2009

With a couple of weeks to go before it’s time to leave milk and biscuits out for the delivery man, Mr P thoroughly recommends a slim volume entitled “Theatremonkey: A Guide To London’s West End” be among the packages to be hurled down your flue cavity. To that end, he has ensured large stocks have been made available at Dress Circle, Monmouth Street, London, and other fine bookshops on and offline.

Right, that’s his commercial out of the way. Actually, I spent part of yesterday morning in Dress Circle making sure that they have a supply of signed copies – and they’ve kindly displayed them all over the shop, on both floors. A quick visit to Waterstone’s Garrick Street saw a couple in the London section, but there weren’t any at their Piccadilly branch, and nor could I see any at the National Theatre bookshop. Hopefully this is a good sign.

Another good sign came during the week as I was writing the “Mashed Banana” newsletter for the theatremonkey.com website mailing list. Reading back the section on forthcoming productions, it is far longer than last year’s… could we be seeing a corner turned in the economic gloom? And if so, Mr P knows a book which tells you how to secure the best seats for it…
